Literature Text

He lays down his sword
At the foot of his King
And says “I am yours
To command anything.”

“I give you my life
I will serve evermore
My loyalty is to you
King of all, my Lord.”

“Send me into battle
And I will surely go
Lead me into darkness
I will defeat my foe.”

“Wherever you lead me
Whenever you call me
I will abide by your command
I will answer to you only.”

He kneels before his King
Surrendering all strife
The pledge of his service
The pledge of his life

The King rises from the throne
And smiles at his loyal knight,
“Heed the command I give to you:
Go forth and be a light!”
I am so happy at how this came out! I had the first stanza down at first, but I had no idea how to finish and I was afraid nothing would come. But now that I finished it, I
love it!

This was inspired by a scene in Lord of the Rings (the book, not the movie) where King Théoden is given his sword by Éomer . The book reads "'To lay [your sword] at your feet, my lord,' said Éomer ." And I thought that was so cool as I imagined that in my head. :typerhappy: Lord of the Rings is so awesome.

And thus this picture was put in my head which in turn created a poem.

So basically the knight is supposed to represent a Christian surrendering all to God, because that's kind of how it is. :) If God is truly our King, we will do as He commands and not tell Him "no" when He asks something of us.

For me this is really important, because I'm telling God "yes" and He's about to send me on an "adventure", so to say. And I have to admit I'm kind of scared and slightly excited at the same time!
